NEW DELHI: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul met his Indian counterpart Om Birla to explore areas for enhanced bilateral cooperation.

Their discussion occurred on the sidelines of the 28th Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference in New Delhi.

Birla stated the talks focused on the “vast potential of the India-Malaysia partnership”.

This included boosting tourism, enhancing mutual investment, and recognising the significant contribution of the Indian diaspora.

Both speakers reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.

The wider CSPOC conference, held from January 14 to 16, addressed a range of legislative issues.

Participants examined emerging challenges from the adoption of artificial intelligence and the rapid growth of social media.

The impact of these technologies on parliamentarians and legislative procedures was a key topic of discussion.
