MITI hopes successor will continue Zafrul’s leadership legacy

MITI deputy minister hopes next minister will continue promoting industry, strengthening trade, and improving investment after Zafrul’s tenure ends

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry hopes its next minister will continue the leadership legacy established by Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

Deputy MITI Minister Liew Chin Tong said Zafrul has set a high bar during his tenure, which concludes on December 2, 2025.

Liew expressed hope that the successor would continue promoting Malaysian industry interests and strengthening international trade relationships.

He also emphasised the importance of maintaining improvements to the country’s investment ecosystem.

“Over these three years, Tengku Zafrul has shown that MITI plays an important role in advancing our industries,” Liew told reporters after officiating MITI ASEAN Day 2025.

The deputy minister added that Zafrul strengthened trade relations with other countries and promoted investment into Malaysia.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Tengku Zafrul on behalf of MITI and the people of Malaysia for his leadership.”

Zafrul, who has served as senator for two terms since 2020, will complete his six-year tenure in the Dewan Negara on December 2. – Bernama
