Anwar rubbishes allegation on link with Epstein

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says he has no connection to Jeffrey Epstein or parties as mentioned in US DOJ records.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has denied having any connection to any party mentioned in a reported email linked to controversial US financier, the late Jeffrey Epstein.

“It was only today that I found out there is an ‘outside party’ who wanted to meet me and even mentioned my name was in the email.

“Alhamdulillah, it has been umpteen years, as mentioned in the email, and I have absolutely no connection with any party who exchanged the emails, especially Epstein.

“Ok, I want to continue walking around Johor Bahru,“ he said in a post on his Facebook page yesterday.

His comment is believed to have stemmed from a demand by Bersatu Youth for Anwar to provide an explanation on his alleged interaction, made directly or indirectly, with Epstein as suggested by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) documents contained in the Epstein Files.

Bersatu Youth claimed the document contains information on a 2012 conversation between Epstein and an acquaintance of Anwar, allegedly to arrange a personal meeting between Epstein and Anwar.

According to media reports, the documents and correspondence have now been released by DOJ as part of its transparency efforts in the investigation into Epstein.
