The body of a crew member missing since a passenger boat collision near Semporna jetty has been found, ending a three-day search and rescue operation.

SEMPORNA: The body of a crew member missing after a collision between two passenger boats has been found in Semporna waters.

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency’s Maritime Rescue Sub Centre said the body of Rosman Kandau, 24, was discovered at 8.37 am.

Rescue teams found the body in the waters of Kampung Terusan Baru, about 3.4 nautical miles southeast of where he was reported missing.

The victim’s family members, who were present, identified the body, after which the search and rescue operation was concluded.

A man was reported missing and four others were injured after the boats collided last Friday near the Semporna Tourist Jetty.

Today marked the third day of the search mission, involving sea assets from multiple enforcement agencies.

The operation included personnel from the maritime agency, police, military and the Fire and Rescue Department.
