Father remembers playful daughter after tragic Lenggeng pool drowning

A father mourns his five-year-old daughter who drowned in a Lenggeng clubhouse pool, recalling her sweet and playful nature

REMBAU: The family of a five-year-old girl who drowned in a clubhouse pool arrived at Rembau Hospital today to claim her body.

The victim’s father, Noor Muhamad Asun, 46, said the loss of his youngest child, Nur Dhiya Azzalea, was deeply felt.

He said her sweet and playful nature remained vividly in his mind.

“We’re still in shock and heartbroken,” he told reporters.

“Every time I’m in the kitchen, she would come over, playful as ever, asking for water or food.”

Noor Muhamad said they had come to terms with her passing.

He was at work during the incident while his daughter was with his wife at a kindergarten programme.

Nur Dhiya Azzalea will be buried at the Batu Lapan Muslim Cemetery in Mantin after the post-mortem.

The programme’s chairman said the event had ended and nearly half the parents had left.

Only committee members were cleaning the hall while some children were in the pool with guardians.

State police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the girl disappeared from her parents’ sight at the programme. – Bernama
