Johor ramps up tourism promotion for Visit Johor Year 2026

Johor intensifies tourism promotion for VJY2026, welcoming Indonesian tourists and highlighting Pengerang’s potential with multiple entry points.

JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor government will intensify its tourism promotional efforts in conjunction with Visit Johor Year 2026 (VJY2026).

State Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin said this includes welcoming programmes for tourists at state entry points and disseminating tourism information through the media.

He spoke after welcoming tourists from Batam, Indonesia, at the Tanjung Belungkor Ferry Terminal in Kota Tinggi.

Aznan noted the welcoming programme has been conducted at 16 entry points so far.

“However, the programme will not end today, as there will be follow-up initiatives to ensure continuous promotion of Johor,” he told reporters.

He said the state government will collaborate with the Information Department and other agencies to distribute tourism materials to journalists.

This effort aims to expand media coverage of the state’s tourism programmes.

Aznan highlighted the Pengerang area’s significant potential as a tourism destination.

It is supported by three main entry points: the Tanjung Belungkor Jetty, Tanjung Pengelih Jetty and the Desaru coast.

With continuous promotion, Desaru is expected to keep attracting tourists, he added.

The Pengerang area is already crowded with visitors almost every weekend.

Beyond large-scale attractions, Johor also emphasises local economic products as part of its tourism offerings.

“Among the attractions that can be highlighted in the Pengerang area are Pulau Tanjung Surat, oyster farms, food farms and a zoo,” Aznan said.

These can be developed through collaboration to provide more choices for tourists.
