The Education Ministry will carry out immediate repairs at three schools in Perlis and Selangor damaged by recent fires
PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Education has announced immediate repairs will be carried out at three schools affected by recent fires.
The affected schools are Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Melangit in Perlis, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jalan 3 and Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Sungai Lang, both in Selangor.
“Immediate steps have been taken to investigate the cause of the fires and assess the extent of the damage to the affected school infrastructure,” the ministry stated.
The MOE also reminded all school administrators and education departments to prioritise the safety of school facilities nationwide.
“The safety and well-being of students, teachers, and the entire school community must be given utmost priority,” the statement added.
A building with eight classrooms at SK Padang Melangit was severely damaged, with nearly 90% destroyed by a fire on Thursday.
Fires also destroyed the sports equipment store at SMK Jalan 3 in Bangi and the teacher’s room at SBPI Sungai Lang in Sabak Bernam early this morning. – Bernama
