Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari begins state visits to assess needs and strengthen grassroots youth and sports development policies.
ALOR SETAR: Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari will tour all states to monitor and assess the needs to strengthen grassroots youth and sports development.
He said the initiative began with a visit to Kedah, where feedback was gathered from youth officers to identify issues requiring action at the ministerial level.
“I also conveyed the federal government’s aspirations and the need for state-level support to implement policies on sports empowerment and youth character development,” he said after visiting the District Youth and Sports Complex.
He said similar visits to other states would help shape policies to ensure federal initiatives are effectively implemented at the state level.
He also pledged to reduce bureaucracy and expedite urgent needs in line with established guidelines.
On the controversy surrounding his use of the title “Dr”, Mohammed Taufiq declined further comment, noting that the matter had been clarified by the Malaysian Medical Council.
“The MMC has responded. My focus now is on the ministry and delivering the government’s agenda,” he said.
Mohammed Taufiq, who is Sungai Petani PKR division chief and deputy head of Angkatan Muda Keadilan, was recently appointed Youth and Sports Minister following a Cabinet reshuffle.
