Perak and Sabah fully recover from floods, evacuees in Sarawak decline

Perak and Sabah have closed all flood relief centres, while Sarawak sees a continued drop in evacuee numbers as floodwaters recede.

KUALA LUMPUR: Perak and Sabah have fully recovered from recent floods as of 4pm today.

All temporary evacuation centres in both states have been closed, allowing evacuees to return home.

In Perak, the centre at Padang Tembak Multipurpose Hall in Hilir Perak closed at noon.

It had been sheltering four evacuees from a single family.

In Sabah, 59 people from 24 families in Sandakan have returned home.

They had been housed at the SK Kampung Pertanian centre after floodwaters receded completely.

Sarawak continues to record a decline in the number of flood evacuees.

The State Disaster Management Committee reported 127 people from 60 families remain displaced as of 4pm.

This is down from 132 people from 61 families recorded this morning.

The decrease followed the closure of the SK Angus centre at noon.

That centre had been sheltering five evacuees from one family.

The PPS at SK Suai Niah continues to house 119 evacuees from 57 families.

Four flood evacuees from two families remain at the Malaysian Red Crescent Hall.

Four other evacuees from a single family affected by a landslide are also sheltered there. – Bernama
