Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin attended the Selangor Quran recital and memorisation contest, with winners set for national incentives.
SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin presided over the closing ceremony of the Selangor State-Level Quran Recitation and Memorisation Competition 1447H/2026.
Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque lecture hall by State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.
Mohd Shahzihan announced that the Selangor al-Quran Literacy Academy (ALAS) board will provide a special monthly allowance to state champions who win at the national competition in Terengganu this April.
National-level Qari or Qariah champions from Selangor will receive a monthly allowance of RM800 for eight months.
Hafazan (memorisation) champions will receive RM300, RM400, or RM500 monthly depending on their competition level.
“Selangor participants who emerge as champions at the national level will begin receiving the allowance from May to December 2026,” Mohd Shahzihan stated.
All allocations for the incentive are being specially provided by ALAS.
At the ceremony, Sultan Sharafuddin presented prizes to the overall best Tilawah and Hafazan participants.
Muhammad Isyraq Shahruddin and Ahmad Faris Iqbal Mohd Roslan were named the respective overall winners.
Each winner received a gold coin worth RM10,000 and an additional 0.5 gram of gold sponsored by a private company.
