Two motorcyclists sustained minor injuries after a four-vehicle accident along Jalan Mount Erskine on Thursday.
GEORGE TOWN: Two motorcyclists sustained minor injuries after a four-vehicle accident along Jalan Mount Erskine on Thursday.
The incident, which occurred at about 8.10am on Nov 6, involved a Toyota Avanza, a Porsche Macan, and two motorcycles.
A 60-second video of the crash had earlier circulated on social media.
Northeast deputy district police Supt Lee Swee Sake said investigations showed that the SUV had been travelling downhill from the Mount Erskine direction when its driver attempted to avoid another motorcycle that had suddenly entered his lane.
The driver then lost control of the vehicle and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with the Avanza and two motorcycles.
Both drivers, a 48-year-old man in the Avanza and a 32-year-old man in the SUV, escaped without injuries.
The two motorcyclists, aged 33 and 48, suffered light injuries.
Lee also confirmed that the SUV driver was not using his mobile phone at the time of the incident.
He added that breathalyser and urine screenings indicated he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
