Two residential buildings collapsed in Fez, Morocco, killing at least 19 people and injuring 16 others, with search and rescue operations ongoing.

FEZ: At least 19 people were killed and 16 others injured after two buildings collapsed in the Moroccan city of Fez.

The state news agency reported the four-storey structures collapsed overnight in the Al-Mustaqbal neighbourhood.

The adjacent buildings were home to eight families.

Local authorities, security services, and civil protection units immediately launched search and rescue operations.

The injured were taken to the university hospital centre in Fez.
