A Ukrainian drone attack damaged a residential building in Saratov, Russia, killing two people, according to the regional governor.
SARATOV: A Ukrainian drone strike on the central Russian city of Saratov killed two people on Saturday.
Regional Governor Roman Busargin confirmed the casualties in a statement on Telegram.
“As a result of a drone attack, several flats in a residential building were damaged,” he said.
He added that authorities would provide financial assistance to residents whose homes were damaged.
Saratov is located on the Volga River, facing the city of Engels which hosts a significant Russian military base.
Kyiv has previously targeted the area with drones, though Russia typically intercepts most of them, making fatalities uncommon.
Ukraine has conducted numerous drone attacks on Russian territory throughout the nearly four-year conflict.
Russia, in turn, has launched daily barrages of drones and missiles against Ukrainian cities.
The United States is currently engaged in talks with both Moscow and Kyiv in an effort to end the protracted war. – AFP
