Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik lost the SEA Games badminton final to Indonesia, their fourth defeat in five meetings

NATIONAL top men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik failed to secure a second SEA Games badminton gold medal today.

The Malaysians lost the 2025 final to Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani at Gymnasium 4, Thammasat University Rangsit Campus.

The top seeds were defeated by the third-seeded Indonesian pair for the fourth time in their five meetings.

The 2022 world champions struggled from the start and could not handle their opponents’ pressure, losing the first game 14-21.

Both pairs were level at 10-10 in the second game before the 2019 champions faltered.

The Indonesians pulled away to seal the gold with a 21-17 victory in 44 minutes after Wooi Yik’s final return went long. – Bernama
