Harry Kane’s schnitzel ritual fuels Bayern Munich’s treble charge

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane reveals a schnitzel reward for every goal, as his prolific form propels the club towards a historic third treble.

BERLIN: Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has revealed a unique motivation behind his brilliant season – a schnitzel delivered for every goal he scores.

The England captain said a local restaurant near his Munich home provides his “favourite German dish” as a ritualistic reward.

“It’s like a ritual,” Kane said. “I can’t say I eat every one of them, but they get delivered and me and the family or someone staying in the house will enjoy them.”

With 34 goals this season, including 21 in the Bundesliga, the deliveries have been frequent.

Kane said the habit made him feel “part of the community”, but joked the restaurant “probably didn’t expect me to score as many goals as I have”.

The restaurant owner, a fervent Bayern fan, personally delivers the meals, introducing himself to security as “the schnitzel guy”.

He emphasised the gesture was originally a fan tribute that has now become a habit, but clarified it does not apply to goals Kane scores for England.

Kane’s form has Bayern Munich chasing a historic third treble of Bundesliga, Champions League and German Cup titles.

The club has lost just once in 29 games this season and sits 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

Bayern have also equalled the best points return at this stage of a Bundesliga season and scored a record 71 league goals.

Kane’s 21 league goals put him on track to challenge Robert Lewandowski’s single-season record of 41.

Having ended his personal trophy drought with last season’s Bundesliga title, Kane is now hungry for more team silverware.
