Selangor FC settle for runners-up spot after 3-1 aggregate loss to Buriram United in the 2025-2026 ASEAN Club Championship final

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor FC could only manage to finish as runners-up in the 2025-2026 ASEAN  Club Championship (ACC), losing 3-1 on aggregate after suffering a 2-1 defeat to defending champions Buriram United of Thailand in the second leg of the final at Chang Arena, Buriram tonight.

In tonight’s match, Selangor FC scored first in the 18th minute through a long-distance shot by Muhamad Syahir Bashah but Buriram managed to equalise through Suphanat Mueanta just 10 minutes later.

Buriram then went ahead in the second half, scoring through Theeraton Bunmathan in the 55th minute, and coasted to a comfortable victory at the end of the match.

Buriram could have made it 3-1 tonight, but their last-minute goal in injury time by Robert Zulj was ruled out after a review of the Video Assistant Referee.

The Thai football club defended its ACC title with a 3-1 aggregate, having won 1-0 against Selangor at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium on Wednesday.
