NOMINEES for the Game Awards 2023 featuring 31 categories, including an extra one for films and series’ adapted from video games, have been announced. Geoff Keighley, creator and host of the Game Awards, made the announcement on Nov 13.
The Game Awards 2023, which is an annual awards ceremony, is set to recognise the industry’s best games and creators for this very packed year.
Released in the third quarter of 2023, Remedy Entertainment’s survival-horror game Alan Wake 2 and Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 have nabbed the highest number of nominations at eight each.
The two games are also part of the coveted Game of the Year list of nominees. The other four in the category are Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 Remake, along with Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros, Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
In terms of companies with nominations, Nintendo leads the pack with 15, Sony Interactive Entertainment with 13 and Xbox with 10.
Though the nominees are selected through voting by an international jury consisting of over 100 global media and influencer outlets, fans will be able to add their voice to the selection of winners through online voting.
The winners for each category are then determined by a blended vote that consists of 90% from the voting jury and 10% from fans.
Until Dec 7, voting can be done on thegameawards.com.
The 2023 Game Awards will commence at 8.30am Malaysian time on Dec 8 and it will stream across more than 30 platforms.
