Over 900,000 Selangor students eligible for RM150 school aid

Selangor’s RM141.6 million BAP programme will benefit 943,975 students with RM150 each to ensure a smooth start to the new school year.

KLANG: A total of 943,975 students across 944 schools in Selangor are eligible to receive the Early Schooling Assistance (BAP) of RM150 each.

The programme involves a total allocation of RM141.6 million from the government.

Selangor Education Department director Wan Nor Ashikin Abu Kassim said the assistance will be distributed to all schools in the state within 30 days.

She said the BAP programme reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring every student begins the school year in an orderly manner.

“All District Education Offices must adhere strictly to financial management regulations and procedures outlined in Financial Circular No. 5 of 2025 to ensure the smooth implementation of BAP,” she said.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Meru Assemblywoman Mariam Abdul Rashid presented mock cheques to representatives from 10 District Education Offices at the event.

Amirudin said strengthening the education sector contributes to the progress of the state and country.

He said this commitment is reinforced by an increase in the education sector allocation to RM55 million in the Selangor Budget 2026.

“This is the highest allocation for the sector in the history of the Selangor government,” he said.

“The true strength of this state lies in its human resources — our high-quality and high-potential human capital.”

At the same ceremony, Amirudin also presented RM20,000 in disaster relief aid to SMK Meru, which was affected by a storm several months ago.
