Physical driving licence available without travel proof from tomorrow

Malaysians can now get a physical driving licence printout without showing proof of overseas travel, as JPJ simplifies the application process.

PUTRAJAYA: The public can apply for a physical printout of a Malaysian Driving Licence (LMM) without submitting proof of overseas travel starting tomorrow.

The Ministry of Transport (MOT) said the decision was made based on feedback from Malaysians who need a physical licence to drive abroad.

“As a measure to reduce bureaucracy, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has been instructed to no longer ask for proof of leaving the country,” the ministry said in a statement.

Physical LMM prints can be applied for at all JPJ counters and Urban Transformation Centres nationwide.

A printing fee of RM20 will be charged for citizens, while non-citizens will have to pay RM100.

Senior citizens aged 60 and above, Class A and A1 licence holders, and registered disabled persons can continue to obtain physical LMM prints for free.

Drivers who choose the digital licence can continue to access a free digital driving card via the MyJPJ app.

MOT said the number of MyJPJ app users has reached 13 million since the digital LMM policy was introduced in February 2023.

“This trend is very encouraging and indicates that users have begun to adapt to the digital concept as a more convenient option,” the ministry said.
