Three Nepalese men have been remanded for seven days to assist investigations into the murders of a woman and her daughter in Kampung Sekolah Juru.
BUKIT MERTAJAM: Three Nepalese men arrested for their alleged involvement in the murders of a woman and her daughter in Kampung Sekolah Juru have been remanded for seven days.
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed the remand order was granted by the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court from Saturday until October 31.
The suspects are being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Police arrested the three men yesterday, including one believed to be the main suspect who is aged between 30 and 40.
The main suspect was detained at an immigration office while attempting to flee abroad.
The other two suspects were arrested at a residence in Bukit Tengah.
Last Saturday, media reported that Sariya Che Hin, 51, and her adopted daughter Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim, 11, were found dead in a house in Kampung Sekolah Juru.
Sariya’s body was discovered in the kitchen on the ground floor of the house.
Her daughter’s body was found on the top floor of the rented property.
Following the incident, police have now arrested three suspects including the victim’s 57-year-old husband to assist in the investigation. – Bernama
