IPOH: The Perak Health Department has issued a reprimand to a medical officer for unprofessional communication and inadequate clinical examination of patients.
The action was taken following a TikTok video posted by a mother, Fatin Nur Syafiqah (@FatinHusni92), alleging sub-par treatment for her sick children at a local health clinic.
The distressed mother claimed that the medical officer on duty was deemed unprofessional and failed to conduct examinations on her two children, who had been experiencing a high fever for three days.
Perak Health Department director, Dr. Sirajuddin Hashim, stated that an investigation confirmed one of the children had a fever, cough, and flu and received treatment at the Menglembu Health Clinic on Dec 6.
In a released statement, Dr. Sirajuddin expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of treatment and communication by the medical officer.
The medical officer has been reprimanded, emphasizing the need for professional communication and thorough clinical examinations for all patients attending the health clinic.
To prevent similar incidents, the department has mandated periodic clinical audits by the Menglembu Health Clinic’s Family Physician.
This initiative aims to ensure high-quality treatment aligned with the Health Ministry’s guidelines. Dr. Sirajuddin extended the same reminder to all health facilities in the state.
