Sungai Golok shooting suspect is former Kelantan footballer

Police identify suspect in Sungai Golok fatal shooting as former Kelantan football player with dual nationality, victim had drug offences.

KOTA BHARU: The suspect in the fatal shooting of a Malaysian man in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, is believed to be a former Kelantan football player.

Kelantan Police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat confirmed the victim was 33-year-old Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali.

Mohd Yusoff stated this information came from internal police investigations.

“We believe the suspect holds dual nationality, but further investigations are ongoing.”

“So far, police have not received the suspect’s photo from Thai authorities.”

He added that police have tightened security and set up roadblocks to track the suspect who may have escaped to Malaysia.

Mohd Yusoff noted the shooting motive will be investigated by Thai police since the incident occurred there.

Regarding the victim, he confirmed Mohd Fuad entered Thailand on November 1 using a border pass.

“Initial investigations found that the victim also had four previous drug-related offences since 2020.”

Earlier reports confirmed a Malaysian man was shot dead at a house in Sungai Golok last night.

Mohd Fuad was buried at the Kampung Apam Muslim Cemetery in Apam Putra, Pasir Mas, at 2.30 pm today. – Bernama
