KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has sent more than one tonne of food and basic necessities to flood affected areas under Op Murni in Pahang since Monday.
RMAF public relations division in a statement today, said the air force deployed a EC 725 AP helicopter from No 10 Squadron, Kuantan Air Base with its personnel delivering supplies to the areas which have been cut off by land routes.
On Monday, RMAF conducted three flights to deliver 259 kilogrammes of food from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) to areas in the districts of Kuala Lipis and Temerloh at the camp of 8th Battalion Royal Malay Regiment (8 RAMD), Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Budu, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Kuala Lipis and SK Lubuk Terua.
âYesterday, 10 flights were carried out to send one tonne of supplies from JKM to Batu 3 Camp, SK Lubuk Terua, SK Lanchang, Lanchang National Youth Skills Institute , SK Desa Bakti, SK Rantau Panjang, SK Penjom and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seberang Temerloh,â the statement said.
The statement announced that RMAF also conducted three mercy flights to transport flood victims for treatment at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh, yesterday.
âThe first mercy flight carried heart patient, Mohd Sayuti Md Rajab, 39, while the second mercy flight flew kidney patient, Mohd Zain Abdul Manan, 77, from SK Lanchang.
âThe third mercy flight transported twin babies, Afya Zara Rosman Hafsam and Arfan Naufal Rosman Hafsam from SMK Teluk Sentang,â the statement said.
It added that all victims were flown to SMK Seberang Temerloh before an ambulance took them to the hospital. â Bernama
