Amanah respects PM’s prerogative in Cabinet reshuffle, no plans to nominate its MPs

Amanah president says party won’t propose MPs for ministerial posts, leaves Cabinet reshuffle entirely to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s discretion.

‎SHAH ALAM: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) respects the prerogative of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in determining the Cabinet reshuffle, amid ongoing speculation of an impending reshuffle.

‎‎Its president, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, said the party had no intention of proposing any of its MPs for ministerial posts, and would instead leave the matter entirely to the Prime Minister’s discretion.

“The Cabinet (composition) is the Prime Minister’s prerogative. He may choose politicians, professionals, party members, or even individuals outside the party; the decision is entirely his.

“Amanah will accept whatever decision is made. What matters is strengthening the team as we prepare for the upcoming elections,” he said at a press conference after opening the 2025 Amanah National Convention here today.

‎‎Mohamad, who is also the Agriculture and Food Security Minister, said there has been no discussion with the Prime Minister on the matter so far.

Speculation over a Cabinet reshuffle has resurfaced as several ministers and deputy ministers serving as senators are due to complete their terms early next month.

‎‎They include Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Home Minister  Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

Anwar, when met by the media after the closing ceremony of the Putrajaya Idea Festival (FOI) yesterday, jokingly urged them to propose the new Cabinet line-up.

“Give me your suggestions if you have any…just pass it to me,” he said.
