PETALING JAYA: MJets Air Sdn Bhd, the commercial cargo subsidiary of MMAG Aviation Consortium Sdn Bhd (MAC), the aviation arm of MMAG Holdings Bhd (MMAG), has entered into an agreement with Qatar Airways Group, marking a major milestone in strengthening Malaysia’s domestic air cargo network and enhancing connectivity between East Malaysia and international destinations.
Under the agreement, Qatar Airways will be able to sell cargo capacity from key origins across East Malaysia, where shipments will be transshipped via Kuala Lumpur and Doha onto Qatar Airways’ extensive global network. This strategic collaboration will boost cargo efficiency, streamline regional trade flows, and open new opportunities for Malaysian exporters to reach markets across the Middle East, Europe and beyond.
The partnership reinforces MJets Air’s role as a key feeder operator within Malaysia and the wider Southeast Asian logistics ecosystem, complementing its existing bilateral arrangements with MasKargo, Teleport, China Southern Airlines, and All Nippon Airways. Together, the two airlines aim to enhance connectivity, improve service reliability and support the continued growth of East Malaysia’s freight sector.
At the same time, MJets Air will benefit from the partnership through the creation of a new revenue stream, leveraging Qatar Airways’ global reach and strong commercial presence. By combining MJets Air’s operational expertise in East Malaysia with Qatar Airways’ extensive network and market influence, the collaboration is set to deliver mutual growth, enhance service reliability and unlock new opportunities for both parties across the logistics and air cargo landscape.
MMAG executive director and MJets Air CEO Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, said: “This bilateral agreement with Qatar Airways Cargo marks another important step in strengthening Malaysia’s air cargo connectivity, particularly for East Malaysia. By linking our domestic routes with Qatar Airways’ global network, we are enabling Malaysian exporters especially those in East Malaysia – to access international markets faster and more efficiently. This collaboration underscores our shared vision of advancing Malaysia’s logistics ecosystem and positioning KLIA as a regional cargo hub.”
MJets Air continues to bridge passenger airline networks with dedicated freighter services. Its Xpress Cargo Terminal at Kuala Lumpur International Airport plays a central role in supporting these operations, with a capacity of up to 2,000 tonnes of cargo daily, ensuring high reliability and rapid turnaround for time-sensitive shipments.
