Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim extends cash assistance to family in Putatan, Sabah after landslide destroyed their home built with years of savings

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended assistance to a family whose home was destroyed by a landslide in Kampung Duvanson, Putatan, Sabah.

The initial cash contribution was delivered to Melvin Funk by the Prime Minister’s political secretary Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi during a visit to assess the damage.

Awang Husaini Sahari, the local community leader, joined the assessment with the Sabah Implementation Coordination Unit to determine immediate required actions.

“Thankfully, no lives were lost, but the impact on this family is profound,” Ahmad Farhan stated in a Facebook post shared by Anwar.

The family’s house, constructed painstakingly with savings accumulated over many years, was destroyed instantly when the landslide struck around 10 pm.

All four family members were inside during the incident but managed to escape after feeling tremors and hearing a loud crash from the rear.

“May this family remain resilient and be granted the strength to face this trial,” Ahmad Farhan added. – Bernama

The Korean ended his round with back-to-back birdies, rekindling memories of his runner-up finish at the same course during the 2011 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship. Lee, who owns one DP World Tour title and five Korean PGA wins, said his past success in Singapore gives him confidence as he chases a much-needed result to secure his Asian Tour card for next year.
