Malaysian police arrested 398 people in nationwide Op Noda raids, targeting unlicensed entertainment premises and foreign guest relations officers

KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained 398 individuals during a nationwide integrated operation targeting entertainment premises from last Friday until yesterday.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director Datuk M. Kumar said Op Noda was conducted at 118 entertainment venues across the country.

He revealed that 103 premises were found operating without valid entertainment licences during the coordinated raids.

Those arrested included five premise owners, three managers, 150 employees, 112 patrons, and 128 foreign guest relations officers.

“Of the total, 87 were local citizens while 311 were foreign nationals, all aged between 19 and 55,” Kumar said in a statement today.

Police also confiscated cash and various entertainment equipment during the operation.

All detainees have been taken to the nearest district police headquarters for documentation and further investigation.

The operation was conducted in cooperation with local authorities and the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia.

Cases are being investigated under multiple laws including the Excise Act 1976 and Immigration Act 1959/63.

Kumar stated that similar operations will continue to be intensified nationwide.

He urged the public to channel information to help authorities combat illegal entertainment activities.
