Police probe viral videos shaming bike patrol officers

Subang Jaya police investigate two viral videos allegedly insulting motorcycle patrol officers during routine inspection of foreigners.

SUBANG JAYA: Police have launched an investigation into two viral videos allegedly disparaging Motorcycle Patrol Unit officers conducting a routine inspection.

The videos reportedly show URB officers inspecting a car carrying foreigners in Subang Jaya, with one containing muttered insults during the procedure.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat confirmed his officers conducted the inspection following established procedures and released the individuals afterward.

Police discovered a second video revisiting the incident with commentary containing humiliating allegations against the officers involved.

“The case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace,” Wan Azlan said in a statement.

The investigation also includes Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network services.

Wan Azlan urged the public against making reckless statements or accusations that could damage the police force’s image.

“Strict action will be taken against anyone who misuses social media to spread false information or defamatory content against the police force,” he warned.

The initial viral video, lasting two minutes and 40 seconds, showed URB officers inspecting a car seen changing lanes.

The foreigners in the vehicle could not produce their passports for inspection by the URB officers during the incident. – Bernama
