PUTRAJAYA: A total of 61 bottles containing 91.5 litres of ketum water were found hidden in an ice cube drum in the gas piping room of the Civil Servantsâ Apartments in Precinct 5.
Putrajaya district police chief ACP Mohd Fadzil Ali said the bottles of ketum water were found at 12.30pm yesterday by a team from the Putrajaya district Narcotics CID.
He said the police acted on information from the public and headed to the gas piping room located at one of the apartment blocks.
âUpon arrival at the location, we found an orange drum containing 61 1.5-litre transparent plastic bottles each filled with liquid suspected to be ketum water. The estimated value of the ketum drink was RM1,525 and no arrests were made at the scene. Further investigation is being carried out,â he said when contacted here yesterday.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 30 (3) of the Poisons Act 1952 and if convicted, one could face a maximum fine of RM10,000 or imprisonment not exceeding four years or both. â Bernama
