MELAKA: A silat instructor pleaded not guilty to three charges of sexually assaulting two female teenage students at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court today.
Yusoh Omar, 44, faced two charges before Judge Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin involving a 15-year-old girl.
He was accused of physical sexual assault and carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent at a Taman Telok Mas house on September 13.
The third charge, heard before Judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah, involved sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl at the same location on October 8.
All charges fall under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 377C of the Penal Code.
The first legislation carries a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and whipping.
Section 377C provides for imprisonment between five and 20 years plus whipping.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhamad Ehsan Nasarudin proposed RM20,000 bail for each of the first two charges.
Prosecutor Mohd Fikri Hakim Zamri requested RM30,000 bail for the third charge.
Defense counsel Nigel Tai sought lower bail, citing his client’s lack of fixed income and responsibility for his ailing mother.
The court set total bail at RM24,000 with additional conditions.
Yusoh must surrender his passport to the court and report to the nearest police station biweekly.
He is prohibited from approaching or disturbing the victims and witnesses.
Case management dates were fixed for December 15 and 23 for document submission. – Bernama
