A six-month-old baby girl died after falling unconscious while under her babysitter’s care in Kuala Lumpur, with police investigating under the Child Act 2001.
KUALA LUMPUR: A six-month-old baby girl died after she was believed to have become unconscious while under the care of a babysitter at a house here last Tuesday.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the baby was taken to hospital by her mother and the babysitter, where she was pronounced dead. Police received a report on the incident at about 8.08 pm.
“Preliminary investigations found that the victim’s mother was informed by the babysitter at 5.04 pm that the baby had been unconscious for about 30 minutes while at the babysitter’s house.
“The cause of death is still under investigation, and police are awaiting the results of laboratory analysis,” he said in a statement here today.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
