SWCorp conducts 2,920 operations and issues 2,551 offence notices, with 95 cases brought to court in Pahang.
KUANTAN: The Pahang Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) has conducted 2,920 Minor Waste Operations and issued 2,551 Offence Notification Notices (NPK) as of last Wednesday.
It said 95 cases have been brought to court, and nine series of Community Service Orders (PKM) have been completed, involving 58 offenders.
“Minor waste disposal offences are processed through court action, so no compounds are issued. Enforcement operations are conducted according to situational needs rather than fixed hotspot locations,” it said in a statement today.
According to SWCorp, the 10th series of PKM was carried out smoothly today at three sites, namely Taman Gelora, Taman Bandar Raub and Esplanade Temerloh, in compliance with established SOPs.
“Fourteen offenders were ordered by the court to serve community service during this round. Participants came from multiple districts, including Kuantan, Pekan, Raub, Rompin, Temerloh, Cameron Highlands, Bentong and Bera, as well as offenders transferred from Hang Tuah Jaya, Melaka,” read the statement.
All the offenders are men aged 22 to 65, comprising 11 citizens and three non-citizens. They were convicted for discarding cigarette butts in public under the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act 2007 (Act 672) and sentenced to community service of two to 12 hours.
During the PKM, offenders performed cleaning tasks within concession areas according to local needs, including cleaning public areas, walkways, drains, public toilets and other facilities.
According to SWCorp, discarding cigarette butts remains the most frequent offence and urges public cooperation.
The agency called on residents to obey the law, adopt responsible cleanliness habits and support the ‘Zero Littering’ goal to create a cleaner, safer and more prosperous environment.
