Saudi AI firm Humain signs major Nvidia chip deal after US approval

Saudi Arabia’s Humain partners with Nvidia to deploy 600,000 AI technologies over three years after US approves advanced chip exports to Gulf kingdom

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s state-backed artificial intelligence firm Humain has announced a strategic partnership with Nvidia following US approval for advanced chip exports to the Gulf kingdom.

The announcement coincided with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Washington visit, where he secured F35 fighter jet purchases and a civil nuclear energy agreement.

Humain and Nvidia will deploy up to 600,000 of Nvidia’s latest AI infrastructure technologies over the next three years under the expanded partnership.

The company will establish Nvidia-powered data centers in Saudi Arabia while expanding operations to AI data centers in the United States.

US Department of Commerce officials approved advanced Nvidia chip exports to both Humain and UAE-based AI firm G42.

Both companies can purchase up to 35,000 Nvidia Blackwell chips equivalent under the approved plan.

US authorities control exports of Nvidia’s most powerful chips due to concerns about diversion to Chinese rivals.

Humain launched in May with backing from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which finances the kingdom’s major economic diversification projects.

Nvidia exceeded Wall Street expectations in its latest earnings report, driven by strong demand for its AI chips.

G42 is building a one-gigawatt data center in the UAE for OpenAI in partnership with Oracle, Cisco, Nvidia, and SoftBank. – AFP
