National Moto3 rider Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli targets a strong performance at the Sachsenring Circuit this weekend
KUALA LUMPUR: National Moto3 rider Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli aims to hit the ground running at the German Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) at the Sachsenring Circuit this weekend.
The 18-year-old Team AEON Credit-MT Helmets-MSi rider admits that it is quite a tricky circuit due to its narrow width, many left turns and “go-kart” style layout.
“This weekend, I will compete in the German GP, and I’m very excited as it is the last race before the competition takes a break for the summer holidays.
“I have been training hard, reviewed my previous race performances and even re-watched last season’s Moto3 race,” he said in a team-issued statement today.
With his confidence sky-high after moving up to sixth spot in the Moto3 standings, Hakim Danish is, however, aware of the tricky task awaiting him at Sachsenring, which demands a high level of precision and focus throughout the race.
The teenager is optimistic of being more competitive this time, having displayed improved performances throughout the season, including bagging his maiden Moto3 victory at the Czech Republic GP on June 21 and finishing seventh to collect nine championship points at the Dutch GP on June 28.
Hakim Danish currently occupies second spot in the race for the Rookie of the Year title with 82 points, just 20 points behind Spain’s 17-year-old Brian Uriarte.
Meanwhile, AEON Credit-MT Helmets-MSi team manager Zulfahmi Khairuddin said their main focus is to ensure the youngster remains in the front pack and qualifies for the Qualifying 2 (Q2) session, as he has successfully done in several previous races.
“I expect the race in Germany this time will be a massive challenge for Hakim Danish. He didn’t get a very good result at the Sachsenring Circuit last season. So, I hope he can adapt himself to the circuit as quickly as possible this time,” he said.
Zulfahmi, who will be in Germany to provide moral support to Hakim Danish, also plans to discuss the rider’s plans and career direction for next season.
Last season, Hakim Danish competed in the Red Bull MotoGP Cup at the Sachsenring Circuit and could only finish 10th in Race 1 and 18th in Race 2.
