Tan Cheong Min wins nangun gold at Taolu World Cup

National wushu ace Tan Cheong Min secures gold in women’s nangun at the 4th IWUF Taolu World Cup, with Pang Pui Yee adding silver in qiangshu

KUALA LUMPUR: National wushu ace Tan Cheong Min continued her impressive run on the international stage by winning the women’s nangun (southern cudgel) gold medal at the 4th IWUF Taolu World Cup in Haikou, China.

The National Sports Council (NSC) said Cheong Min delivered a polished performance in a dramatic contest to score 9.746 points, edging Uzbekistan’s athlete, who claimed silver with 9.736 points.

Singapore’s representative settled for bronze after scoring 9.723 points.

Malaysia’s wushu camp also celebrated another podium finish through Pang Pui Yee, who clinched the silver medal in the women’s qiangshu (spear) event.

Pui Yee produced an impressive performance to score 9.726 points, finishing behind Vietnam’s gold medallist on 9.746 points, while the bronze medal went to a neutral athlete with 9.723 points.

The prestigious championship, which began last Saturday (July 4), will conclude tomorrow.
