KOTA BHARU: Police arrested two men and seized 2,000 pills suspected to be yaba, worth approximately RM20,000, in a raid at the parking area of Medan Selera Bukit Yong, Pasir Puteh, yesterday.
Pasir Puteh district police chief Supt Saari Yaacob said both suspects were arrested at 6.40 pm by a team of officers and members of the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of the Kelantan police contingent headquarters while they were in front of a Yamaha Y16ZR motorcycle without a registration number.
He said the inspection found 10 plastic packages containing 2,000 pills suspected to be yaba weighing 221.41 grammes.
“The estimated value of the seizure is RM20,000, and the initial urine screening tests on both suspects were found to be negative,” he said in a statement today.
Saari said the police will apply for a seven-day remand order starting today to assist in the investigation, and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
