Melaka approves 55 new homes, 188 repairs under rural housing scheme

KKDW approves 55 new builds and 188 home repairs in Melaka under the PPRS scheme, with ceiling rates of RM79,000 and RM20,000 respectively

MELAKA: The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) has approved 55 new projects and 188 home repair applications under the Perumahan Rakyat Sejahtera (PPRS) scheme in Melaka this year.

State senior executive councillor Datuk Rais Yasin stated the ceiling rate for PPRS implementation is RM79,000 for new construction and RM20,000 for repair work.

He said that from 2021 to 2025, KKDW approved 41 repair and three new build applications for the Pantai Kundor constituency.

These applications were endorsed by the Melaka Tengah Poverty Eradication Focus Group Committee to be carried out by GiatMARA.

“However, there are still eight repair applications and 12 new build applications that have not been approved yet,” he said during the Melaka legislative assembly sitting.

Rais was responding to a question from Datuk Tuminah Kadi @ Mohd Hashim regarding implementation delays in her area.

He said the programme’s goal is to provide the target group with safer, more complete, and suitable homes for greater well-being.

Applications are reviewed by the focus group committee against KKDW’s set criteria, he added. – Bernama
