Malaysia’s rhythmic gymnasts clinch team gold at SEA Games 2025

Malaysia’s rhythmic gymnastics team wins gold at the SEA Games in Thailand with a score of 234.60 points, led by Commonwealth champion Ng Joe Ee.

BANGKOK: Malaysia’s rhythmic gymnastics squad secured the team gold medal at the SEA Games Thailand 2025 today.

The team, led by 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Ng Joe Ee, earned a total score of 234.60 points in the final at Gymnasium 5, Thammasat University.

The competition format required two individual gymnasts to perform four routines each with hoop, ball, ribbon, and clubs.

Six other team members performed two group routines.

Team manager Afrita Ariany Nasril said the team performed five ribbons in the first routine and two hoops with three balls in the second.

She noted that Joe Ee and Mavia Wong were tasked with the individual exercises.

“A tough fight from the hosts, but we’re glad to win it,” Afrita told Bernama.

Despite helping secure Malaysia’s first-ever rhythmic gymnastics team gold at the SEA Games, Joe Ee expressed dissatisfaction with her performance.

“Could have done better. Quite sad because I dropped the ball during the performance,” she said.

Host nation Thailand claimed the silver medal with 222.36 points.

The Philippines finished in third place with a score of 174.42 points.
