Kuala Selangor chapel hosts festive Christmas celebration

500 attendees enjoy carols, Mass, and family activities at Holy Infant Jesus Chapel’s Dec 7 event

KLANG: A festive Christmas celebration brought together approximately 500 people at Holy Infant Jesus Chapel in Kuala Selangor on December 7, in an event that combined religious observance with community fellowship and family entertainment.

The gathering, organised by the Senior Citizen Ministry of Church of Our Lady Lourdes in Klang, created a joyful atmosphere for participants spanning multiple generations, from young children to senior members of the community.

Religious Observance and Community Fellowship

The celebration commenced with children performing traditional Christmas carols, setting a warm and festive tone for the day’s activities. The musical presentation was followed by Holy Mass, which was presided over by Reverend Fr. Gnana Selvam.

Following the religious service, the organizing committee provided a communal lunch that allowed attendees to share fellowship and conversation in the spirit of the season. The meal was prepared and coordinated by members of the Senior Citizens Ministry, demonstrating the community’s collaborative approach to the celebration.

Entertainment and Activities for Children

The afternoon programme featured various activities designed to engage younger participants. Children performed energetic dance routines that showcased their talents and added to the festive atmosphere.

A colouring competition gave young artists an opportunity to express their creativity, while organised games kept children entertained and active throughout the celebration.

Community Support and Gift Distribution

The celebration extended beyond entertainment to include meaningful outreach efforts. Goodie bags were distributed to all children in attendance, adding to their excitement and providing tangible mementos of the day.

In keeping with the Christmas spirit of giving, the organizing committee also prepared bags of groceries for distribution to less fortunate families within the community. This charitable component ensured that the celebration’s benefits extended to those facing economic challenges.

Closing with Traditional Hospitality

The event concluded with an afternoon tea service featuring cakes and refreshments for all participants, providing a final opportunity for fellowship before families departed.

Organizers characterised the celebration as both meaningful and festive, successfully combining religious observance, family entertainment, and charitable outreach in a single community gathering.
