Kelantan JKR identifies 29 federal roads across nine districts for urgent maintenance due to monsoon damage, with Gua Musang and Kota Bharu most affected
KOTA BHARU: The Public Works Department has identified 29 federal roads across nine districts in Kelantan requiring urgent maintenance.
The damage, including potholes, was caused by heavy rain from the northeast monsoon, according to Kelantan JKR director Nik Badlihisham Nik Ismail.
The nine affected districts are Kota Bharu, Machang, Pasir Puteh, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah, Tumpat, Jeli, Bachok and Gua Musang.
Seven roads in Gua Musang are on the list, including FT484 Jalan Kuala Betis and FT185 Jalan Lojing-Gua Musang.
Six roads in Kota Bharu also need work, such as FT3 Jalan Pasir Puteh-Kota Bharu and FT130 Jalan Wakaf Che Yeh-Salor-Pasir Mas.
Four roads in Jeli and four in Tanah Merah have been identified for repairs.
The list includes FT4 Jalan Gerik-Jeli in Jeli and FT199 Jalan Batu Gajah-Lawang in Tanah Merah.
Other roads are in Machang, Pasir Puteh, Tumpat, Pasir Mas and Bachok districts.
Nik Badlihisham said Kelantan JKR will consult with the Works Ministry on the maintenance work and its estimated cost.
He urged motorists to exercise caution on damaged roads and obey warning signs in affected areas.
