KPKT allocates an additional RM20 million for Perak local authorities to repave about 800 residential roads, with all work set for completion before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
IPOH: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has allocated a further RM20 million for local authorities in Perak to repave approximately 800 residential roads.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the Manjung Municipal Council will receive RM5 million from the new allocation.
The Teluk Intan Municipal Council is allocated RM3.08 million, while the Taiping Municipal Council gets RM3.1 million.

The remaining funds will be distributed to district councils and other local authorities across the state.
“This means that almost all local authorities in the state of Perak will be given this special allocation of RM40 million,” Nga said.
He stated the repaving works will be completed before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“When we celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri on March 20, 800 roads would be completed,” he told a press conference after a working visit and handover ceremony.
On December 23, he announced an initial RM20 million for the Ipoh City Council to repave 400 roads in the city.
Regarding his visit, Nga said the 25-year wait for residents of Bandar Baru Medan Ipoh had ended with the full completion of road repaving there.
“The total length of the road is approximately 3.2 kilometres with a total cost of almost RM1.9 million,” he said.
He attributed the project’s success to the Sentuhan Kasih KPKT initiative and strategic cooperation with Ipoh City Council.
During the visit to Kg Tawas Hall, Nga also handed over a cheque for RM116,760 to St. Michael’s And All Angels Church Ipoh.
The donation was made through the Non-Muslim House of Worship Initiative. – Bernama
