A 16-year-old pleaded guilty to injuring former Dang Wangi police chief SAC Sulizmie Affendy during an eviction operation in Kampung Sungai Baru.

KUALA LUMPUR: A teenager has pleaded guilty to injuring former Dang Wangi district police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman.

The offence occurred during an evacuation operation in Kampung Sungai Baru three months ago.

Magistrate Nurfarahain Roslan set February 4 for sentencing, pending a character report for the 16-year-old.

The charge states the teen voluntarily caused hurt to intimidate Sulizmie Affendy while he was on duty.

The alleged offence took place at Jalan Datuk Abdul Malik, Kampung Sungai Baru, on September 11.

It falls under Section 332 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of three years, a fine, or both.

In separate proceedings, the accused and six others faced an additional charge of participating in an unlawful assembly.

They were charged with opposing an eviction notice despite orders to disperse at the same time and place.

Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri imposed a RM3,500 fine or six months’ jail on four individuals who pleaded guilty.

Mohd Sopirman Mohd Yunus, 31; Muhammad Redzuan Kamal Abdul Rahman, 19; Muhammad Fallah Islahudden Shah Abdul Fattah, 20; and Muhammad Azhar Salleh, 36, were sentenced.

Another accused, Ariffin Abu Bakar, 56, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of RM2,800 with one surety.

Mention for his case was set for February 4.

Two other underaged accused, aged 16 and 17, also pleaded guilty to the unlawful assembly charge.

The court fixed February 4 for their sentencing to allow for character reports and granted them bail of RM500 each.

Today’s proceedings were held in camera as they involved minors.

Deputy Public Prosecutors Joshua Tee and Nurul Farhanah Arul Hisham prosecuted the case.

Lawyers Farith Emier Farhan Mormi, Muhammad Najib Ahmad and Nur Asniqeen Mohd Sultan appeared for the defence.

On September 11, several individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.

Sulizmie Affendy sustained a head injury after being struck by a thrown object during the operation.

The operation was to disconnect electricity supply to several houses following a court order for demolition.
