Political views not a barrier to revive projects

KUALA LUMPUR: Political difference is not a barrier for the federal government to revive abandoned housing projects.
Deputy Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Halimah Sadique said up to March, the ministry had revived 12 of 14 abandoned housing projects in Penang.
"The federal government takes a serious view of this. In Penang, we have helped 4,503 house buyers who have already occupied their houses.
"The progress of housing projects depends on the planning and commitment by the developers and has nothing to do with political belief," she said, replying to a question from senator Dr Ariffin S. M. Omar at the Dewan Negara today.
Ariffin wanted to know about the action taken by the federal government to revive abandoned housing projects, particularly in Penang.
Halimah said the remaining two abandoned housing projects were being restored by the ministry.
Up to March, 206 housing projects were declared as abandoned. Of the total, 151 projects or 73.3% were revived by the ministry to the benefit of 23,942 buyers. – Bernama
