PETALING JAYA: The sale of Caterham F1 team by Tan Sri Tony Fernandes does not affect AirAsia Bhd's sponsorship decision. In an email reply to SunBiz, AirAsia said it has not been as Caterham F1's corporate sponsor for a while.
"And the sale of Caterham F1 team by Tony Fernandes has not affected any sponsorship decisions we have for Caterham F1 team," it said when asked if there is any binding sponsorship contract between AirAsia and the Caterham F1.
The Caterham F1 was sold to Colin Kolles a few weeks ago, and part-owner Fernandes publicly stated that his venture had not worked for him.
The Caterham F1 reportedly made a pre-tax profit of £4.8 million (RM25.9 million) in 2012 on revenue of £46.7 million, on the back of a sponsorship deal from General Electric International Inc worth £9 million a year.
