GEORGE TOWN: The magistrate's court today fixed Feb 11, next year, for the verdict of a case where a 57-year-old female senior police officer was charged in the escape of a detainee last year.
Magistrate Dianne Ningrad Nor Azahar set the date following an application by Danny C. Nevarednam, who was representing the accused, ASP L. Chandkumary, 57. DPP Siti Fatimah Talib did not object.
Chandkumary was charged with intentionally releasing one K. Prabaharan, 45, at the Penang court complex at 1.50pm on Oct 9, 2013.
She was also charged with lodging a false police report at 8.05pm at the Jalan Patani police station on the same day.
She had claimed trial to both charges on Oct 21, last year.
Both charges under the Penal Code carry a maximum six months prison sentence, or fine, or both.
Dubbed the "Casanova doctor", Prabaharan was allegedly implicated in at least five cheating cases involving women.
He was subsequently detained near a fast food outlet in Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur on Jan 2 this year.
