Two college students die in car-bus collision

    KUANTAN: Two students of the Shahputra University College here died after the car they were travelling in rammed the rear of an express bus at Km153.5 (Kuantan-bound) of the East Coast Expressway near Maran early today.
    The dead were the driver of the Perodua Viva car, Aimi Sarah Abd Hissam, 20, from Taman Muda Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, and the front-seat passenger, Nurul Aida Ahmad Tajuddin, 20, from Sitiawan, Perak.
    Pahang Police Traffic chief DSP Mohd Noor Yusof Ali said the accident occurred at 12.45am when the students were travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan.
    "It is believed that the students' car rammed into the back of the express bus which had stopped on the emergency lane. The students died at the scene from severe injuries to the head and body," he said when contacted.
    Mohd Noor said an investigation revealed that the bus had stopped on the emergency lane when one of the passengers had stomach ache and had to rush to a toilet.

    He said the bus driver and the passengers were not injured in the accident. He said the bodies of the students were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan. – Bernama
