GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has urged Penangites to conserve their usage of water during the current dry spell.
"I hope everyone uses water wisely so that we will not face any water supply problems," he said during a press conference in Komtar today.
He said the water supply in the state is enough despite the decreasing water levels at the Teluk Bahang and Mengkuang dams.
Lim said the Teluk Bahang dam recorded a 72.6% of storage capacity up to this year compared with 90% during the same period last year.
For Mengkuang dam's capacity, he said the capacity had declined to 30% from 48.54% last year.
However, he noted that the water supply in the Air Itam dam was increasing from 69% last year to 85% currently.
