KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Territories Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan said he was aware of the "Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu" gathering to be held here on Sept 16.
However, he added the organisers have not yet applied for a permit to hold the gathering at the proposed venue at Bukit Bintang and Petaling Street.
"We will leave the matter to the police (for security reasons)," he told the media after launching the first public hearing session on the proposed upgrading and beautification of 'Little India" in Brickfields today.
Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun, who was also present, said he was also aware of the upcoming gathering from 12noon onwards.
The announcement on the gathering appeared on several blogs and it called on both Umno and PAS members to join it.
In one of the postings that supports the group, headed by Datuk Jamal Yunus and believed to be anti-Bersih, asked participants to wear red shirts on that day.
Jamal, however, when contacted denied that his group was organising the gathering.
"I can confirm that it will be held on Sept 16 but it is not by us, it will be another group. They will issue a formal statement next Tuesday.
"We will join them," he told theSun.
