PETALING JAYA: The Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) hopes to reduce fraudulent claims in the next two years, said its chief executive officer C. M. Vignaesvaran.
"We want to send the right message to training providers out there, that we do not want to tolerate any more fraudulent cases," he said during a joint press conference with Selangor Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk Simi Abdul Ghani here today.
He was commenting on the case where four directors of a training company were charged for fraudulent claims amounting to more than RM144,000 for providing training courses, which never took place.
The four claimed trial to a total of 10 charges at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Thursday.
Vignaesvaran said HRDF, an agency under the Ministry of Human Resources had signed a Corporate Integrity Pledge with MACC in 2014.
Through the collaboration, HRDF is able to provide credible information to MACC on fraudulent claims made by companies or private sector training
providers, which are registered with HRDF.
"Since the signing, we have started an inspectoral unit to look into cases that we feel may be fraudulent," said Vignaesvaran.
Meanwhile, Simi said the agency is looking into similar cases in other parts of the country via its collaboration with HRDF.
"We are confident that through our cooperation with HRDF, we will be able to uncover more cases with a similar modus operandi," he said.
