Port Dickson, Langkawi among 17 locations with unhealthy API

    KUALA LUMPUR: Tourist destinations Langkawi and Port Dickson are among the 17 locations recording an unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) as at 3pm today.
    According to the Department of Environment portal, both locations recorded API readings of 156 and 101 respectively.
    Other areas facing a similar situation are Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang (142); Seberang Jaya 2, Perai (141); Kampung Air Putih, Taiping (136); Alor Star (131); Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Pegoh, Ipoh (129); and Perai and Bakar Arang, and Sungai Petani (125 respectively).
    Also experiencing the same unhealthy API category are Seri Manjung (121); Kangar (119); Malacca City (111); Bukit Rambai (109); Jalan Tasek, Ipoh (107); Kuala Selangor (106); Shah Alam (103) and Pasir Gudang (101).
    A total of 25 areas recorded moderate air quality, among them Port Klang (99); Banting (96); Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (95); Petaling Jaya (91); SMK Tanjung Chat, Kota Bharu and Kota Tinggi (90 respectively); Larkin Lama (89); Putrajaya (88) and Tanjung Malim (87).
    Meanwhile, nine areas in Sabah and Sarawak recorded healthy API readings between 20 and 50. Among these areas are Kuching (50), Sandakan (46), Keningau (44) and Bintulu (35).
